Frankfurt's public transport is run by the RMV (Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund) and its policy is one of the most dog-friendly in Germany. Small dogs travelling in a closed carrier ride free; larger dogs need a half-price child ticket, must be leashed at all times, and may be asked to wear a muzzle if the vehicle is crowded. The rule applies identically on U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram, bus and regional trains within the RMV network.
The RMV network covers Frankfurt and the entire Rhein-Main region. Dogs in carriers travel free; larger dogs pay the child fare (Kinderfahrkarte), must be on a short leash, and a muzzle may be requested by staff during peak hours. Tickets are sold at all station machines and in the RMV app.
