Dog Parks & Green Spaces in Frankfurt

A 29-hectare English-style park in the Westend district featuring a fenced Hundeauslauffläche (off-leash zone) — one of the few official off-leash areas inside the city ring. The rest of the park requires a leash, but the wide lawns and shaded paths make it one of the most pleasant dog walks in central Frankfurt.

At 4,200 hectares, the Stadtwald is one of the largest city-owned forests in Germany and a weekend paradise for Frankfurt dog owners. Dogs must be on a leash from 1 March to 15 July (the wildlife breeding season) but can otherwise walk freely on the forest trails. The Stadtwaldhaus visitor centre has a small petting zoo, maps, and a café with an outdoor terrace.

At 168 hectares, the Niddapark is Frankfurt's largest inner-city park — created for the 1989 Federal Garden Show and beloved by local dog walkers. A dedicated Hundeauslauffläche sits on the eastern edge, and the park's long meadows and paved circular paths are excellent for jogging with a dog on leash.
