The second-largest castle complex in the Czech Republic after Prague Castle, dominating the town on a rock above the Vltava bend. The five outer courtyards (I.–V. nádvoří), the painted Round Tower base, and the three-tiered Cloak Bridge (Plášťový most) connecting the castle to its garden are all open and free to traverse with a dog on a short leash.
🐾 Outdoor courtyards and Cloak Bridge: dogs on short leash, free entry. Indoor museum routes (state apartments, Baroque Theatre, Lapidarium): dogs not permitted. The painted Round Tower climb (162 steps): no dogs. Bear Moat parapet viewing: dogs allowed at distance, do not lean over.
💡 Walk up via the Latrán entrance and exit through the Cloak Bridge to the Castle Garden - the climb is more gradual on this side and the views improve at every courtyard.
