Dog-Friendly Beaches in Bournemouth

The reference year-round dog beach in Bournemouth, in Southbourne at the foot of the cliff lift. Golden sand, gentle slope into the sea, and a dedicated dog-friendly status that excludes it from the 1 May-30 September summer ban applying to the central beaches.

The sandy beach at the eastern foot of Hengistbury Head, fully dog-friendly year-round. Combined with the nature reserve above and the spit at Mudeford ferry across the harbour, it makes the most extensive dog walk in the area, easily three hours of varied terrain.

A National Trust beach across Poole Harbour via the Sandbanks chain ferry, four miles of dog-friendly golden sand year-round with views to Old Harry Rocks. The South Beach section is the most popular dog-walking area; Knoll Beach has the National Trust café and the visitor centre.
