Freedom Trail (full 4 km, Boston Common to USS Constitution)
Downtown / North End / Charlestown
Boston's signature 4 km red-brick line painted on the sidewalk links 16 American Revolution sites from Boston Common to the USS Constitution in the Charlestown Navy Yard, crossing the Granary Burying Ground, the Old State House, Faneuil Hall, the Paul Revere House (exterior), the Old North Church (exterior), Copp's Hill Burying Ground and the Bunker Hill Monument. The entire outdoor trail is leashed-dog accessible free of charge; the interior of the historic buildings, the Constitution Museum and the ship itself are service-animals-only. One of the world's great walkable history routes for a leashed dog.
๐ก Start at Boston Common Visitor Center (Park Street T) at sunrise for an empty trail; the full 4 km takes 2-3 hours at a dog pace. Cross the Charlestown Bridge for the dramatic harbour view of the USS Constitution's masts.
