Dog-Friendly Parks & Walks in Biarritz

Biarritz is compact but extraordinarily well-suited to dogs. The cliff paths, the headlands, the Atlantic-facing promenades, and the green spaces in between offer a variety of walking experiences that few French coastal towns can match. The Basque hinterland begins immediately inland — drive ten minutes and you're on forest trails and mountain paths. But within the town itself there is more than enough for a dog who needs daily exercise and stimulation. Two green spaces stand out: Parc Mazon, the central park, is perfect for morning off-lead play (in designated areas) and shaded rest; the Plateau de l'Atalaye, a cliff-top walk with views south to the Spanish Pyrenees on clear days, is one of the finest short walks in the Basque Country. Both are on leads in most areas, but both are genuinely welcoming to dogs.
