Dog-Friendly Attractions in Bergen

The colourful wooden Hanseatic wharf — UNESCO World Heritage since 1979 and Bergen’s iconic image. The cobbled main street and the labyrinthine alleyways behind it (Schøtstuene, Solgården) are fully leashed-dog accessible. Most quayside restaurants and shops welcome dogs at outdoor tables.

Bergen’s 7-minute funicular ride from the city centre to Mount Fløyen at 320 m. Leashed dogs travel free of charge — even very large dogs. Top has a café, viewing platform and 50 km of forest trails. The descent is 1h walk for active dogs.

Bergen’s iconic fish market on the inner harbour, since 1276. Outdoor stalls (June-September) and the indoor Mathallen (year-round) accept leashed dogs. The fish vendors regularly hand out salmon scraps to visiting dogs.
