Pet-Friendly Parks in Bayonne

An 8-hectare municipal park east of the historic centre, the largest open green space inside Bayonne with mature plane trees, lawns, a fitness trail and a playground. Leashed dogs are welcome on the paths and lawns year-round, and the gentle gradient makes it a comfortable everyday walk.

A 2.5 km loop along the top of the Vauban fortifications begun in 1680, planted with lawns and trees and overlooking the Adour, the Nive and the rooftops of the old town. Free, open at all hours, with leashed dogs welcome on the grassy bastions.

A protected riverside wetland on the Nive south-east of the centre, criss-crossed by boardwalks and gravel paths through reedbeds, water meadows and grazing land. Leashed dogs are welcome on the public paths; the Maison des Barthes interpretation centre at the entrance is closed to pets.
