Seafront, between the port and the old town · Parque Nicolás Salmerón, Almería
Almería is a compact, walkable city with a long seafront promenade and shady palm gardens that suit a leashed dog perfectly. Designated off-leash dog areas (called pipicanes locally) are limited within the province, so most city walks are on-leash. The single most important rule here is heat: from June to September the pavement and sand can scorch paw pads, so walk at dawn and after dusk, and test the ground with the back of your hand before setting off.
