Dogs must be on a leash on all public streets and in non-fenced parts of parks. A muzzle is required for any dog larger than a small carrier when using public transport. Dog waste must be picked up. Fines apply (up to 500 PLN). Dogs are not allowed inside public-pool swim zones in summer.
Wroclaw locals love dogs and you will see them in cafés, on trams, in squares, and even in some shops. The Nadodrze district north of the river and the Four Denominations Quarter near the Old Town are particularly welcoming. Don't be surprised if strangers ask to pet your dog or offer treats, it is part of the culture.
Late April to June and September to early October are ideal: mild temperatures, terrace season open, and the parks at their best. July-August can be hot and humid (28–32°C), uncomfortable for thicker-coated breeds. Winter is cold and snowy (often -5°C) but locals walk dogs anyway and salted pavements are well managed.
