123 m wooded hill at the heart of the UNESCO Altstadt, crowned by the iconic Uhrturm clock tower (1265). Paths, terraces and viewpoints open to leashed dogs; the Schlossbergbahn funicular is free for dogs.

Main square at the foot of the Schlossberg, dominated by the neo-Renaissance Rathaus (1893). Saturday morning food market (06:00–13:00), the best atmosphere with a dog.

Floating steel-and-glass artificial island on the Mur, designed by Vito Acconci for Graz's 2003 Capital of Culture year. Open 24/7 to leashed dogs; café with pet-friendly terrace.

central park of 23 ha east of the Altstadt, laid out 1869 on the old defensive walls. Fenced Hundezone in the south-east corner, the best off-leash spot in central Graz.

15th-century Gothic cathedral and the adjacent Baroque Mausoleum of Ferdinand II. Dogs not allowed in either interior (except assistance dogs), but the surrounding squares and the Renaissance Landhaushof courtyard nearby are open.

Baroque palace (1635) west of the city, added to the UNESCO list in 2010. 90 ha landscape park with free-roaming peacocks; leashed dogs welcome in the park but not in the State Rooms.
