Walks and Nature near Tirano with a Dog

A flat riverside path along the Adda river below Tirano, usable in both directions for several kilometres. Shaded sections and calm water allow dogs to drink from the bank. An easy morning circuit of 3-4km can be done entirely along the river.

A waymarked trail through the Sassella DOC vineyard terraces above the right bank of the Adda, starting 2km south of Tirano center. The trail climbs through dry-stone walled vineyards with panoramic valley views. Dogs on leash throughout; the terraced walls are centuries-old and fragile.

The Orobie Valtellinesi regional park occupies the southern flank of the Alps above Valtellina. Val Grosina (15km from Tirano) is the closest entry point. Dogs are allowed on all marked trails on a leash. Expect real mountain terrain: altitude, streams, and wildlife.
