Dog-Friendly Beaches and Waterfront Spots in Stockholm

A quiet Lake Mälaren beach in the Bromma district that is popular with local dog owners precisely because it receives fewer tourists than the central beaches. The calm freshwater lake is safe for dogs to swim in and the grassy banks leading to the water make it easy for dogs of all sizes. Best visited in the early morning or evening when it is quietest.

The eastern tip of Djurgården island, where the Baltic Sea meets the archipelago. Rocky shores, wooden jetties, and shallow water make this an excellent spot for dogs to paddle and explore. The views across to the outer archipelago are stunning on a clear day. It is reached by walking through the length of Djurgårdsparken — a walk that is itself one of Stockholm's finest.

A small island south of Södermalm, connected by bridges and popular with locals for swimming and picnicking. Dogs are welcome on the rocky shores and can swim in the clear water between the rocks. The island has several grassy areas and a well-known beach on the northern side. The prison-turned-hotel on the island adds historical interest. Easily reached from Södermalm on foot.
