Downtown, along Naito Parkway between SW Harrison Street and NW Glisan Street
The green ribbon along the west bank of the Willamette, created when the city tore out a riverside motorway in the 1970s, which tells you a lot about how Portland thinks. Its paths run past the Salmon Street Springs fountain and the Japanese American Historical Plaza, and they connect over the Steel and Hawthorne bridges to the Vera Katz Eastbank Esplanade to make a continuous city loop.
🐾 Dogs are welcome throughout the park and all dogs must be leashed. There is no off-leash area here, and city rules keep dogs out of the fountains, so do not let a hot dog cool off in Salmon Street Springs.🎟️ Free
💡 Walk it as a loop: south along the west bank, across the Hawthorne Bridge, north on the Eastbank Esplanade and back over the Steel Bridge. It is a few kilometres, entirely flat, and the best introduction to the city on four legs.
