Nuremberg is fully inland (~500 km from the nearest coast), but the Franconian Lakelands south-west of the city offer excellent summer swimming for dogs. The Wöhrder See in town has a designated dog beach, and the Brombachsee 40 km south has dedicated dog zones.

The largest lake in the Franconian Lakelands, 40 km south of Nuremberg. Three signed dog beaches (Hundestrand) on the south shore offer 200–400 m of sand for swimming and running.

Rothsee, 91161 Hilpoltstein
Smaller and quieter than the Brombachsee, 30 km south of Nuremberg. The west-shore Hundestrand at Birkach offers grass banks and shallow water — favoured by locals avoiding crowds.
💡 S-Bahn S2 Allersberg + 30 min walk, or 25 min by car. Avoid hot July afternoons; the lake heats fast.
