Chapel Bridge & Water Tower
Altstadt · Kapellbrücke, 6004 Luzern
The 14th-century covered wooden bridge zigzagging across the Reuss is Europe's oldest surviving truss bridge and Lucerne's emblem. Triangular ceiling panels paint the city's history; the octagonal Wasserturm rises mid-span. Crossing is free, dog-friendly and takes three minutes.
💡 Cross at 07:30 — the bridge is empty, the morning light catches the painted panels and your dog will not be jostled by tour groups. Coffee at the Reuss-side terraces opens at 08:00.
