Dog-Friendly Beaches & Lake Shores in Lausanne

Lausanne's western public beach on the lake, in the Vidy area. The designated swimming section prohibits dogs from June to August, but the extensive western section of the Vidy shoreline — past the sailing club — is accessible to dogs year-round and provides direct lake access. The Vidy park and forest behind the beach have well-maintained paths for dog walking. The whole area is flat and easy to navigate. Good for early morning swims with your dog outside the restricted zone in summer.

Lausanne's eastern public beach, located between the Ouchy port and Pully. The main beach area restricts dogs in summer, but the lakeside path east of the beach facilities is fully accessible to dogs year-round. This path connects to the Lavaux vineyards UNESCO area, where dogs on leads can walk along the lake through Switzerland's most celebrated wine landscape. The path is flat, well-maintained, and has water fountains at regular intervals in summer.

The UNESCO-listed Lavaux vineyard terraces stretch for 30 km along the north shore of Lake Geneva east of Lausanne, between Lutry and Chillon. The lakeside wine trail (Route du Vignoble) passes through the vineyards and above the lake with extraordinary views. Dogs on leads are permitted on all public paths through the vineyards. The trail is hikeable in sections — from Lausanne-Ouchy, take a CGN boat to Lutry or Cully and walk back along the lake. A half-day excursion with a dog that is genuinely world-class.
