Planty Gardens
Encircling the Old Town · Planty, Kraków
The Planty is one of Europe's most unusual and beautiful urban parks: a ring of 21 interconnected gardens totalling 4km that encircles the entire Krakow Old Town on the site of the medieval city walls. Walking the full Planty circuit with a dog is one of Krakow's essential experiences — passing through gardens of different characters, past historic gates, churches, and university buildings, with the Old Town always on one side and the city on the other. Dogs on leash are welcome throughout. Several café terraces open onto the Planty in summer.
💡 Start from the Barbican gate (northern end) and walk clockwise — the southern sections near Wawel Hill are the most scenic and the least crowded
