Dog-Friendly Attractions in and near Hévíz

A 13th-century Árpád-era village church with a distinctive octagonal tower stands in Hévíz's historic Egregy district, next to a small Roman ruin garden with the remains of a villa rustica, a herb garden and a dry Kneipp path. It's an outdoor site with a centuries-old cemetery around it, easily seen on a leashed walk.

The landscaped park around Hungary's grandest surviving aristocratic palace, about 20 minutes from Hévíz, is open to leashed dogs even though the palace's exhibition rooms are not (only registered assistance dogs may enter the building). With around 70,000 flowers planted yearly and nearly 50 tree and shrub species, it's a proper stroll before or after visiting the palace itself.

The paved and wooded promenade that circles the perimeter of the thermal lake and links the spa buildings to the town center is Hévíz's default evening walk, lively with cafés and shops but calm underfoot. Dogs cannot enter the Lake Bath itself, but the surrounding path is a pleasant, level loop the whole way round.
