Parks and Lake Walks in Feldkirchen with a Dog

The Maltschacher See is an 80-hectare lake with a designated dog-friendly area on its eastern shore. Dogs can swim in designated sections outside the main human bathing area. In peak July-August, dogs are restricted from the main public beach during swimming hours (typically 10am-6pm); outside those hours they can use the full shoreline.

The north shore of the Ossiacher See has a flat lakefront path running from Steindorf toward Ossiach village and the Cistercian Abbey. Dogs are welcome on the path and can access the lake from the non-beach shoreline sections. The lake water reaches 24C in July.

The Nockberge are gently rounded alpine mountains north of Feldkirchen, part of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Well-marked trails rise through high pastures (Almen) where cows graze freely. Dogs allowed on all marked trails on a leash - watch for livestock; keep distance from grazing animals.
