Ericeira is one of the easier small Portuguese towns for a pet visit: compact old town along the clifftop, flat 1.5 km seafront, direct Mafrense bus to Lisboa that accepts dogs in a carrier, and a strong tradition of dog-friendly tasca terraces. The few hard rules, leashes everywhere in town, no concessioned beaches in season, dangerous-breed list on CP trains and Mafrense buses, are well-signed and well-enforced, so reading the signs once at the start of your stay saves any awkward conversations later.
