Dog-Friendly Things to Do in Dresden

The 'Balcony of Europe' is the elevated riverside promenade along the Elbe between the Augustusbrücke and the Carolabrücke, lined with the Frauenkirche, the Albertinum, and the Brühl Garden. Open day and night, with stairs down to the Elbwiesen at either end — a leashed loop here covers most of the famous Canaletto-view skyline.

The world's oldest and largest fleet of historic paddle steamers operates from the Terrassenufer below the Brühlsche Terrasse, with daily city cruises, longer Pillnitz runs, and seasonal Elbe Valley routes. Dogs are welcomed on board on a short leash; choose the open back deck in summer and the heated lower saloon in shoulder season.

The romantic palace park on the eastern bank of the Elbe, with formal Baroque parterres, a 250-year-old camellia, and long allées sweeping up into the vineyards. The buildings (museum, palm house, camellia house, orangery) admit only assistance dogs, but the entire park is accessible on a short leash and the riverside path is dog-classic.
