Pet-Friendly Parks in Bruges

The Minnewater (Lake of Love) is Bruges' most romantic park and one of the most photographed spots in Belgium. The lakeside park has tree-lined paths, swans, and views of the Begijnhof. Dogs on leash are welcome throughout. Early morning visits offer the park almost to yourself before the tourist buses arrive. The park connects to the Begijnhof meadow (dogs on leash allowed in the surrounding meadow).

The Vesten is the old fortification ring around Bruges — a 7 km path along the top of the old earthwork ramparts, passing through four medieval city gates and offering elevated views over the canals and rooftops. Dogs on leash are welcome the full length. The walk is flat, shaded in summer, and quiet enough to feel like a genuine escape from the tourist centre.

A pleasant English-style park between the train station and the historic centre, with ponds, paths, and open lawns. Dogs on leash are welcome and the park has a designated off-leash dog area. A useful daily walk space for visitors staying near the station and a convenient green stop between the train and the historic centre.

The Sint-Anna neighbourhood in the northeast of Bruges has three historic windmills on the Kruisvest ramparts and a quiet canal walk along the Langerei. Dogs on leash are entirely welcome throughout. This is the most local and least touristy area of Bruges — residents walk their dogs here daily. The canal walk from Langerei past the windmills and out to the Kruispoort is one of the best dog walks in Bruges.
