Pet-Friendly Attractions in Bruges

The Markt is the heart of Bruges — a grand medieval square dominated by the 83-metre Belfry tower. Dogs are welcome in the square on leash. Dogs cannot climb the Belfry, but the exterior view from the Markt is one of the most iconic in all of Belgium. Visit early morning before the horse-drawn carriages and tour groups arrive.

The Bruges Begijnhof (Princely Beguinage Ten Wijngaarde) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site — a tranquil enclosed courtyard of white-painted houses surrounding a church and open meadow. Dogs are not allowed inside the enclosed courtyard, but the surrounding meadow (especially in spring when daffodils bloom) is accessible with leashed dogs and is one of the most beautiful natural settings in Bruges.

The Rozenhoedkaai (Quay of the Rosary) is the most photographed canal view in Bruges — the quintessential image of the city, with canal boats, medieval bridge, and towers reflected in the water. Dogs are welcome on the quayside. The adjacent Dijver canal walk continues south past the museum buildings towards Minnewater. A must-visit spot in Bruges and entirely dog-friendly.
