Dog-Friendly Parks & Green Spaces in Bolzano

Bolzano's signature green space: long open meadows flanking both banks of the Talvera river, with shaded promenades under mature plane trees, playgrounds, sports pitches and direct access to the historic Lungotalvera walkway leading to Castel Roncolo. Dogs on leash are welcome along the entire 2 km of riverside path. A fenced Hundezone enclosure operates near the Druso bridge for off-leash time.

A historic 5 km panoramic promenade laid out in 1892, climbing gently from Gries through cypress, mediterranean pine and exotic plantings to viewpoints over the Dolomites and the city below. Almost level grade, broad path, plenty of benches and water fountains — a classic Bolzano walk that dogs love year-round, especially in winter sun and during cool summer mornings.

The Rittner Seilbahn cable car climbs from central Bolzano (260 m) to Oberbozen/Soprabolzano (1,221 m) in just 12 minutes, opening up the entire Renon high plateau — meadows, larch forests, the famous earth pyramids and views of the Rosengarten and Latemar massifs. Almost the entire plateau is dog-friendly on leash, with marked trails of every length. The cable car charges €4 one way / €8 return per dog.
