The 1808 neoclassical lakeside gardens of Villa Melzi d`Eril, designed by Luigi Canonica with sweeping lawns, an azalea grove, century-old cedars and a Japanese-inspired water garden. Widely regarded as one of the finest gardens on Lake Como; leashed dogs welcome on all garden paths and along the private lakefront promenade.
๐ก Enter from the Loppia gate at the south end and walk north along the lakefront; the azalea bloom (mid-April to mid-May) is the must-see season, the Japanese water garden is the favourite shaded summer corner.
