Pet-Friendly Transport in Arles

Arles station sits on the Tarascon–Marseille line, 10 minutes' walk from the Arènes. TER services run roughly every 30 minutes to Avignon (20 min), Nîmes (30 min) and Marseille Saint-Charles (1h00); seasonal TGV connections continue to Paris in 4h00. SNCF national pet rules apply: dogs under 6 kg in a carrier travel for a 0 EUR animal ticket, larger dogs on a leash and muzzle pay 50 percent of the adult fare capped at 7 EUR. Guide and assistance dogs travel free.

Envia is the urban bus network of the Arles Crau Camargue Montagnette agglomeration, with lines linking the centre, Trinquetaille, Pont-de-Crau and the surrounding villages. Like most French municipal bus networks, only small pets carried in a closed basket and guide or assistance dogs are admitted. Medium and large dogs are not accepted on board. For Camargue or out-of-town hikes, take an SNCF train or drive.

Marseille Provence is the closest international airport to Arles, 50 minutes by car or via a shuttle bus to Avignon TGV plus a TER hop. Standard French airline pet rules apply: cabin admission for pets up to 8 kg including carrier on most carriers, with the hold for larger animals (subject to summer heat restrictions in July and August).
