Pet-Friendly Beaches near Arles

A 25 km strand of wild dune-backed beach at the southern tip of the Camargue, with the salt pans of Salin-de-Giraud behind. The official Arles tourism dog page confirms that dogs are tolerated on lead at the Beauduc car park, on the back beach and on the sea dyke, and tolerated free on the beach itself. No services, no shops, no lifeguards: bring water, sunshade and waste bags.

The longest of the Camargue dog-accessible beaches, a 25 km flat sand strand running east from the Grand Rhône mouth. The Arles tourism office confirms dogs are tolerated on leash on the beach, but banned in the lifeguarded summer swim zone marked by buoys (June to September). Outside the swim zone and off-season, the entire strand is open to dogs on lead.

A 20 km dyke trail running across the Camargue National Nature Reserve from the Phare de la Gacholle lighthouse to the sea, with brackish lagoons, pink flamingos, herons and terns on both sides. Walkers and cyclists only, no cars. The Arles tourism office confirms dogs are tolerated on lead on the dyke; the protected dune zone on the seaward side is strictly off-limits, even on foot.
