Santander é uma cidade compacta e facilmente percorrível a pé, construída ao longo da sua baía e da península do Sardinero. A maioria das atrações é alcançável a pé; para deslocações mais longas, a rede de autocarros urbanos (TUS) aceita cães de pequeno porte em transportadoras, a linha de via estreita FEVE liga a Bilbau e a Oviedo, o Renfe Alvia chega a Madrid em cerca de 4h30 e a Brittany Ferries faz a ligação a Plymouth e Portsmouth a partir do terminal marítimo.

Percorrer a cidade a pé
O passeio marítimo de Santander estende-se quase sem interrupção desde o terminal marítimo, através do Paseo Pereda, dos Jardines de Pereda, em torno da Península de la Magdalena e ao longo da praia do Sardinero até ao Faro de Cabo Mayor, cerca de 8 km no total. É plano, largo, totalmente acolhedor para cães com trela, e é a forma mais gratificante de ver a cidade com um cão.
