The city's only genuine year-round dog beach, on the north shore of the Outer Harbour. The off-leash section sits on the western boundary of the beach, fenced off from the public swimming beach on the land side but open to the water, so dogs can swim. Sheltered by the Leslie Street Spit, the water here is calm and a little warmer than the open lake.
Normas: Off-leash inside the designated area only. Leash on for the rest of Clarke Beach Park and for the public swimming beach, where dogs are not permitted between 1 April and 31 October. Double-gated entrance, and there is a separate small-dog section.
