Dog-Friendly Parks in Seville

Parque de María Luisa is one of the most beautiful parks in Spain — a 34-hectare sweep of Romantic-era gardens laid out for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition and still largely intact. Winding paths lead through dense tree tunnels, past elaborate fountains, over ornamental bridges, and around the Glorieta de España, which rivals the Plaza de España for sheer visual grandeur. Dogs must be kept on leash throughout, but the paths are wide enough that well-behaved dogs walk comfortably. The park's scale means you can easily spend two hours here and cover different terrain each day.

Built on reclaimed land for Expo 92, Parque del Alamillo is Seville's largest park — over 100 hectares of Mediterranean pines, eucalyptus, and open meadow on the north end of Isla de la Cartuja. This is the park for dogs who need to run. The leash rules exist in theory but are far more relaxed in practice than in María Luisa, and many locals use the open meadow areas for off-leash play. The park is criss-crossed by cycling and walking tracks, and the wooded sections provide real shade even at the height of summer. Bring water — there are few fountains in the wilder sections.

The riverside gardens and walkway on the Triana bank of the Guadalquivir are not a formal park but a linear green space stretching south from the Puente de Triana towards the Torre del Oro. On the Triana side, the Paseo de la O is one of Seville's most pleasant walking routes, with views across the river to the Torre del Oro and the Cathedral. Dogs on leash are entirely at home here — this is a neighbourhood walk for Triana residents, and the grassy strips along the river provide somewhere for dogs to settle while their owners enjoy the view.

Parque de los Príncipes is the neighbourhood park for Nervión, one of Seville's most residential districts, and it shows — this is a locals-only park, largely unknown to tourists, where Sevillans come to walk their dogs in the early morning and late evening. The park has a designated dog area as well as open grass zones, and the atmosphere is relaxed and genuinely community-oriented. Sevillans here will stop and chat with you about your dog. Benches are plentiful, shade is good in the tree-lined sections, and there is a small fountain for dogs.
