The 4th covers the southern Marais, the Île Saint-Louis and the eastern half of the Île de la Cité, around Notre-Dame and Hotel-de-Ville. It is one of the most dog-tolerant historic districts in Paris, with cafe terraces, boutique-lined alleys and the Île Saint-Louis quays for riverside walks. Public lawns are mostly off-limits, but Place des Vosges arcades and the Berges de Seine make up for it.
Leashed dogs welcome under the arcades and on the gravel alleys; dogs banned from the central lawns.
Leashed dogs allowed on the alleys; banned from lawns. Reopened after the post-fire perimeter works.
