Via Domitia and Place de l'Hôtel de Ville
Centre historique
An exposed section of the original 1st-century Via Domitia, the Roman road connecting Italy to Spain via Narbonne (Narbo Martius, the first Roman colony in Gaul), is visible in a sunken plaza in front of the Hôtel de Ville. Dog-friendly year-round; the surrounding pedestrian square is the heart of Narbonne's old town.
💡 Visit at dusk when the square lights up and the Roman road glows under the modern lighting; combine with a Brasserie Co table on the Cours Mirabeau 200 m east.
