Pet-Friendly Attractions in Milan

The Sforzesco Castle's outer courtyards and the surrounding Parco Sempione are fully accessible with dogs on-leash. The castle's exterior — its towers, moat, drawbridge, and the Piazza d'Armi (outer courtyard) — make for a spectacular dog walk. Dogs cannot enter the castle's museums and galleries, but the grounds are extensive. The immediate connection to Parco Sempione (see parks section) makes this an easy half-day circuit.

The Navigli canal district is one of Milan's most atmospheric and charming areas, and the most dog-friendly. The Naviglio Grande canal, with its lock system, canal-side restaurants, design studios, and evening aperitivo bars, is entirely walkable with a dog. The Sunday antique market (Mercato dell'Antiquariato, last Sunday of each month) is an extraordinary event with dogs welcome throughout.

The Brera neighbourhood — Milan's most artistic and bohemian district — is excellent for a dog walk. The cobblestone streets, design galleries with open doors, independent bookshops, and café terraces all create a pleasant circuit for an afternoon with a dog. The neighbourhood's outdoor art installations are frequently dog-inclusive. Several of the neighbourhood's café terraces are explicitly dog-welcoming.
