Tivoli Park (Tivoli, Rožnik & Šišenski hrib)
Ljubljana's largest park, covering around 510 hectares including the Tivoli formal gardens, the Rožnik forested hill, and the Šišenski hrib ridge. The main formal garden area (closer to the city centre) requires dogs to be on a leash. The western forested sections — Rožnik hill and beyond — offer a much more relaxed environment for longer walks with dogs. The climb to the Church of St Mary on Rožnik is a popular morning walk with local dog owners, and the hilltop views over the city are excellent. Dogs must be on a leash throughout.
Off-leash zone: Dogs on leash throughout Tivoli Park. The forested western sections (Rožnik hill) are more relaxed in practice — larger spaces with fewer people.
💡 For the most relaxed dog walk in Tivoli, head directly to the Rožnik hill section (west of the formal gardens). The forest trail to the top is 45–60 minutes and the views are worth it
