Grindelwald is one of the most dog-friendly alpine villages in Switzerland: leashed-and-muzzled access on Eiger Express, Firstbahn, Männlichenbahn, Pfingstegg and most cogwheel lines, free water bowls at every Berghaus, the verified Tierklinik Interlaken 24/7 line 35 minutes downhill, and an entirely walkable village core under the Eiger north face. The four practical hurdles: high vet costs, Bernese forest leash duty 1 April-31 July, altitude limits above 2320 m on the Jungfraubahn cogwheel to Jungfraujoch, and grazing cows on alpine plateaus in summer.
