Getting Around Aix-les-Bains with a Dog

The town's own railway station has direct TGV and TER links to Paris, Lyon, Chambéry and Annecy. As on all French trains, dogs under 6 kg travel free in a closed carrier; larger dogs must be leashed and muzzled and pay a reduced-fare ticket.

The Grand Lac agglomeration's Ondéa network runs three regular lines around town, including circular Line 3 linking the SNCF station to the Thermes Chevalley, roughly every 20-35 minutes. Small dogs in a carrier and leashed larger dogs are generally accepted, as on most French regional bus networks.

Cruise boats from Aix-les-Bains' Grand Port cross Lac du Bourget to Hautecombe Abbey and other lakeside stops. Dogs are accepted on board, leashed, for a €5 supplement, though they cannot enter the abbey church itself.
