A magnificent three-mile stretch of golden Blue Flag sand backed by dunes, one of the best surf beaches in England and a set-jetting-famous view. It runs on a zone system for dogs: the busy north end is closed to dogs in the season, but the long southern half beyond Mill Rock is open to dogs off-lead all year.
Rules: North end (Esplanade to the stream): no dogs from Good Friday or 1 April, whichever is earlier, to 30 September. Stream to Mill Rock: dogs allowed on a lead 9am to 6pm in that season. South of Mill Rock: dogs allowed off-lead all year. Outside the season the whole beach is open to dogs. Fixed penalties up to 100 pounds for breaches.
