Riva's main central beach below the Viale Rovereto promenade, a mix of grass and pebble with shallow water. From 20 June to 10 September dogs may not go on the beach itself and are restricted to the paved lakeside footpath, so treat this as a year-round promenade walk rather than a summer swimming spot.

The designated dog area on the Monte Brione side, reached from the Porto San Nicolò harbour, is the closest spot to the centre where dogs can be off-leash near the water in summer when the town beaches are closed to them. It is the practical alternative for a swim and a run during the June-September restriction.

The western lakefront stretch near the Lido and Viale Carducci, close to the via Sudermann dog area. Like the rest of the town shore, the beach is closed to dogs from 20 June to 10 September, but the adjacent dog area and promenade give a usable summer option on the quieter western side.
