The only beach on the western side of town, Koumbes is a small, more local cove with striking views of the Fortezza fortress just to the east. Less organized than the main town beach, it is a calmer choice for an early-morning leashed swim with your dog before the day heats up.

A long, 3.5 km golden-sand beach beside a fertile plain, Episkopi has wide-open stretches and shallow turquoise water. Its size means there are plenty of quieter, less-organized sections where a leashed dog is comfortable and out of the busiest sunbed areas.

The long sandy town beach runs for kilometres east of the old town, lined by the promenade, palms and cafes. The central, heavily organized core is sunbed territory, but the quieter eastern end past the main resorts has unorganized stretches better suited to a leashed early-morning beach walk.
