Several sections of the Zürichsee shoreline are accessible to dogs outside the main bathing beach zones. The eastern shore (Seepromenade from Riesbach to Zollikon) has quiet stretches where dogs can reach the water. The Zürichhorn Park area on the eastern side also has some dog-accessible lake access. Always check seasonal signage — the city's rules are updated each spring.

A smaller lake east of Zurich in the Glatt Valley, the Greifensee is a UNESCO wetlands reserve surrounded by reed beds and meadows. It is considerably quieter than the Zürichsee and generally more dog-permissive at its shore access points. The lake walk (17 km circumference) is entirely accessible to dogs on a leash. Excellent for a half-day outing.

A small, quiet lake in the Albis hills south of Zurich, the Türlersee is the most dog-friendly swimming lake in the Zurich region. Dogs are permitted at several shore access points. The lake is calm and shallow, making it suitable for dogs of all swimming abilities. Combine with a walk through the surrounding Sihlwald forest for a full half-day outing.
