Lake Bled is Slovenia's most iconic landscape — an emerald lake with a small island church and a medieval castle perched on a cliff. For dogs, the good news is that almost all walking paths around the lake are accessible. The full circumambulation of the lake (6km) is an excellent walk with a dog on a leash. Most of the lake's swimming areas allow dogs outside designated bathing zones. Pletna boats (traditional wooden rowboats to the island) and motorboats: check with the operator on the day, as dog policies vary by operator.

The Sava River flows just north of Ljubljana and has several accessible swimming spots along its banks. Dogs can swim in the river at informal riverside access points. Less scenic than Bled but much more accessible for a quick dip during a Ljubljana stay. Local dog owners use the Sava regularly in summer for exactly this purpose.
